Audition process will include:
Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsal Start: Week of July 28
August: Approximately two rehearsals per week (music and choreography focus)
September: Full rehearsal schedule leading to performances
Schedule: Primarily weekday evenings and occasional Saturdays; no Sunday rehearsals
Precise rehearsal dates will be coordinated with cast availability

Marmee March - The loving, wise matriarch who maintains strength during her husband's absence.
Requires mature vocal quality and commanding presence.

Amy March - The youngest March sister, initially spoiled and artistic, who matures throughout the show.
Must portray both childish petulance and eventual sophistication.
Playing age: 14-18 | Vocal range: F#3-Gb5
Meg March - The eldest March sister, responsible and traditional, yearning for a life of comfort while
maintaining family duty.
Playing age: 19-25 | Vocal range: A#3-Gb5
Beth March - The shy, gentle sister with beautiful piano-playing ability and generous spirit. Requires
sweet vocal tone and vulnerability.
Playing age: 18-24 | Vocal range: A3-G5
Aunt March - Wealthy, imposing, and opinionated great-aunt to the March sisters. Character role
requiring strong comedic timing.
Playing age: 50-65 | Vocal range: E3-F5
Professor Bhaer - Intelligent, somewhat awkward German professor who challenges and eventually falls
for Jo.
Playing age: 30-45 | Vocal range: G2-F#4
Laurie - Charming, spirited neighbor boy who becomes entangled with the March family. Requires
youthful energy and strong tenor voice.
Playing age: 17-25 | Vocal range: Bb2-Bb4
Mr. John Brooke - Laurie's tutor who falls in love with Meg. Sincere and steadfast character.
Playing age: 25-35 | Vocal range: C#3-F#4
Mr. Laurence - Laurie's wealthy grandfather, initially intimidating but eventually warming to the March
family.
Playing age: 55-70 | Vocal range: Baritone
Performance Dates:
October 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, & 25 at 7:30pm
Special Performance: Westside Players has acquired a swing actress to understudy all female roles. As
recognition of this artist's commitment, there will be an additional performance on either Thursday
evening, October 16 or Sunday afternoon, October 19, featuring this performer as Jo.

When all is said and done, we must raise $30,000 this season to make needed repairs to our heating systems and to replace and update our stage. We need your help! If we all come together we can make this happen and have some fun at the same time!
